Construction of the 17-storey Al Salam Tower, providing 15,200m² of built-up area including a basement. The project incorporated various interior fit-out works, MEP services and external works. Bahrain Islamic Bank occupies the ground and mezzanine plus two further floors. The remaining twelve floors are reserved for lettable office space and one floor is allocated to mechanical plant. The four levels occupied by the Client are fit-out to provide a banking hall, plus executive and staff accommodation.
Lobbies and public areas throughout the building were fully fitted-out to high quality specifications. The banking hall consists of patterned granite flooring and elaborately designed ceilings. Office partitioning predominantly combined fabric covered stud and plasterboard construction with proprietary demountable units. In the executive areas, cherry wood and veneer panelling was used extensively and broadloom carpets with border design were provided in the boardroom and meeting rooms. The scope included the provision of all furniture and involved the design, production and installation of a number of bespoke items such as reception and teller’s counters, as well as boardroom and meeting room cabinets, which were manufactured by GPZ’s Joinery Division.
